George J. Gabritsch and Jimmy Key of Baker Roofing of Norfolk survey

the damage done to the spire of the Basilica of St. Mary of the

Immaculate Conception Church in Norfolk. The Rev. Walter C. Barrett,

pastor of the church, said the finial, a part of the steeple was

blown off during Friday's wind storm. It broke through the slate

roof of the church, causing last weekend's rain to seep through to

the walls of the choir loft. The damage estimate is pending, said

Barrett.
