Raymond L. Barnes Jr., 71, of the 2800 block of Hurley Ave., died Jan. 23, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.
He was a retired car inspector for Norfolk and Western Railroad where he worked for 38 years. He was a native of Richmond, Va., and attended Norview Presbyterian Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Dorothy M. Barnes; daughter, Connie A. Thompson of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; son, Ronnie L. Barnes of Yorktown, Va.; two grandchildren, Colin A. Barnes of Yorktown, Va., Nicholas R. Barnes of Yorktown.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday by Dr. Vernon Murray in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Donations may be made to the Norview Presbyterian Church.
