How the executive board of the Suffolk division of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce sees the coming year:
Continuing to work on the merger (of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce), we have to keep an open mind and communicate. It's like a marriage - there's a lot of give-and-take.
``I'm not there to change anything but to continue working toward regionalism but also having the identity of Suffolk. We're trying to build on our uniqueness. The quality of life is the bottom line here.''
- Chairman Lydia G. Duke
The chamber is going through a very understandable change, trying to incorporate regionalism and maintain some autonomy. We don't want to lose our identity out here. That's going to be a challenge for the chamber.''
- Chairman-elect James W. BonDurant Jr.
The city is growing and we're at a very critical time. We have a great opportunity but we have to be real careful about how we manage that growth and development. I think we are going to see a lot of changes over the next couple of years. And it should be very positive change.''
- Treasurer Linda G. Doland
I think the biggest thing will continue to be a re-commitment to be sure local chamber members get as much possible value for their dues dollars that the chamber can give them.''
- Immediate past chairman Harold U. Blythe
