VIRGINIA BEACH - Dr. James Stuart Arline M.D., 50, died Jan. 24, 1996.
Jim was a native of Norfolk and Virginia Beach. He was the son of the late Margaret Gainfort Arline Bayne and the late Arthur Woodson Arline Sr. Jim was a graduate of Norfolk Academy, Denison University and the University of Virginia's Medical School. His pediatric internship was at the University of Kentucky; his pediatric residency was at the University of Virginia's Department of Pediatrics. Jim served three years as a Navy Medical Officer on the Mount Whitney and at the Boone Clinic. He first practiced medicine in Stuart, Va., where he made a sigificant contibution to pediatric care in a rural setting. Most recentley Jim practiced pediatrics in Norfolk, at NDC Medical Center, and later in Chesapeake at the Children's Medical Center of Tidewater. During his career he served on the Board of Camp Holiday Trails, Charlottesville, a summer camp serving children with special medical needs. He served on the Board of R.J. Reynolds Hospital, Stuart, Va., and on the IPA Board of Sentara Medical Center and was an associate professor at Children's Hosptial of The King's Daughters.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sherry; their four children, Christopher, Patrick, Katherine and Rebecca; his brother, Arthur Woodson Arline; his sister, Barbara Ellen Arline; his nephew, Ryan Weigand; his mother and father-in-law, Jeanne and Donald Wizeman; and devoted friends and neighbors.
A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lynnhaven United Methodist Church, 1033 Little Neck Road, by the Rev. Bruce Tuttle. Memorial donations may be made to the Arline Children's Fund, in care of Sally Yates Wood, Esquire, 101 North Plum St., Richmond, Va. 23220. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Raod Chapel, is handling arrangements.
