Lottie Johnson Matthews, 93, died Jan. 23, 1996, at a Chesapeake hospital.
She was born in Mt. Airy, N.C., and was the widower of Dewey B. Matthews. She was a member of Parkway Temple, formerly First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Norfolk. She was a past commander of Disabled American Vets and was active in the V.F.W. and past president of World War II auxiliary Barracks (NU)19.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Dorothy Bishop and Evelyn Sellew, both of Norfolk; one stepson, Marshall D. Matthews of Yorktown; and eleven stepgrandchildren.
She was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Alice Baker.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in Parkway Temple, the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood presiding. Burial in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Kempsville Rescue Squad. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
