Safety-Kleen Corp., a Chesapeake firm, will give a free bottle of re-refined motor oil to the first 350 people that reserve one of the new Chesapeake conservation license plates. The plate features a silhouette of a lone canoeist with a bald cypress tree and a colorful sun in the background.
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles will begin issuing these plates after the city pre-sells 1,000 plates for $25 each. After the first 1,000 are sold, $15 of the cost of each plate will be used to fund local beautification and conservation projects.
