The Senate Transportation Committee killed a proposal Thursday to deny delinquent taxpayers auto registration renewals.
The bill introduced by Sen. Kevin Miller, R-Harrisonburg, would have denied vehicle registration renewal to anyone who is more than 30 days late paying state taxes.
Critics said it would do more harm than good. A delinquent taxpayer would not be able to drive to work under the law, said Sen. Marty Williams, R-Newport News.
