I take exception to the notion that because I do not agree with Pat Robertson and his hand-picked clone Ralph Reed, I am not a Christian.
I am a Christian and have been one for more than 40 years. I was raised in a Christian home, and I am raising a Christian family.
Reed speaks of the civil-rights movement but fails to recognize that the main problem of blacks is that the vast majority of them are poor and that their problems are common among poor people.
He speaks of the women's movement and divorce but still has not addressed what a woman is to do when she is involved in an abusive relationship.
His organization opposes abortion but has not solved the problem of unwanted children.
He speaks of tax relief and a balanced budget but will recite the Scriptures that we will always have the poor with us, when all the social welfare programs are gone.
He speaks of school choice, but who will pick up the difference for the poor who will not have enough to go to his private school?
Black women have gotten up early in the morning for years to take care of their families, and then go to white homes to raise their children. Maybe that's where the family breakup came.
Reed and many of his followers would be more apply described Pharisees.
