Marion R. Joyner, a native of Southampton County, died in Richmond on Jan. 26, 1996. He was 91 years old.
Mr. Joyner graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1927. He lived most of his adult life in Courtland where he was in business for over 60 years. He was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church and served as a member of the church board for many years. He was also active in civic affairs and served on the Courtland Town Council for over 25 years.
Mr. Joyner is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Helen Nance Joyner of Richmond; a daughter, Gladys Joyner Wright of Warsaw; a son, Marion R. Joyner Jr. of Richmond; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Estelle Joyner Taunton of Capron; a brother, Herbert Odell Joyner of Courtland; several nieces and a nephew.
The funeral will be held at Courtland United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. today with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is in charge of arrangements.
