For many years, I have enjoyed reading the work of your fine art critic, Theresa Annas. Her articles cover a wide range of topics, and her criticism consistently reflects her alliance to her subject matter - the fine arts in Hampton Roads.
I also want to commend the work of her two colleagues, music critics Lee Teply and Paul Sayegh, who have created a welcome atmosphere of appreciation for the many musical activities that we are privileged to have available to us in this area. Their writing communicates a genuine love for music. Their intelligent comments and observations reflect an appreciation for a variety of efforts, indicating an ability to find value based on appropriately flexible criteria and standards. It seems fitting that our newspaper should take pride in the plethora of cultural offerings our community holds while continuing to inform and critically guide the consuming public.
Teply and Sayegh write as solid scholars with keen and perceptive ears. Please let us read more from them about musical life in Hampton Roads.
