We had better be glad that we didn't completely destroy Iraq. If we had, we would probably be over there now trying to get Iran out of Iraq. We still may have to do just that.
Iran and Iraq had a nice balance of power until we messed that up with the Persian Gulf war.
We would be wise to lift the sanctions on Iraq so it can get healthy in every way. Then it could do its part in keeping a power balance that is necessary to keep peace among the countries in that part of the world. We need all the help we can get if keeping peace in the world is going to be our aim.
If Saddam Hussein can keep us from having to fight Iran, I will write him a thank-you note.
