Every time I read or hear of a child being raped, I want to shout, ``CASTRATE THE RAPIST!'' With all my liberal leanings, I do not buy the argument that this would be cruel or unusual punishment for rapists, especially if they murder their victims.
I realize this is not an original suggestion, but it is surprising that more women's organizations are not lobbying for such a law.
Just mentioning castration provokes overwhelming outcries from (male) lawmakers, but perhaps it is just what the poor rapist who ``can't control'' himself needs.
