Odessa Smith Cross, 76, of the 1300 block of Sunnybrook Terrace, died Feb. 2, 1996, in Maryview Hospital.
Mrs. Cross, a native of Nash County, N.C., was the widow of Solomon P. Cross. She was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church, Chesapeake, and was involved in Usher Board (NU)2, the Garden Club, and Senior Citizens.
Survivors include a son, David L. Cross Sr. of Henrico County, Va.; four stepdaughters, Barbara Cross Mann and Carolyn Cross Williamson, both of Portsmouth, Sandra Cross Martin of Chicago, and Sylvia Cross Davis of Durham, N.C.; two stepsons, Miles Cross of Chicago and Cecil R. Cross Sr. of Henrico County; two sisters, Rosa Richardson and Eula B. Slaughter; 25 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a stepson, Solomon Cross Jr.; her mother, Minnie Smith; and her father, Handsome Smith.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Little Zion Baptist Church, Bowers Hill, Chesapeake. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. The family will be at the residence. Fisher Funeral Home is in charge.
