The Jamestown Ferry set a record last year for commuter traffic and increased its total traffic over 1994's total, the state Department of Transportation said Monday.
Bill Collier, the ferry's new administrator, said the increases reflect the improvements made recently to the ferry system.
The ferry that connects James City County on the north side of the James River to Surry County on the south carried 640,705 vehicles last year, up from 611,026 in 1994. The record - 676,080 - was set in 1990. by CNB
