Walter Daniel ``Dan'' Burkette, 78, of Route 1, died Feb. 6, 1996, in Roanoke Chowan Hospital.
Mr. Burkette, the retired owner of Reliable Plumbing Co., was a native of Bertie County, N.C. He was a member of Ahoskie First Baptist Church, Davie Masonic Lodge (NU)39, A.F. & A.M., former master of Wiccacon Masonic Lodge, and former member of Ahoskie Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jordan Burkette; a son, David Burkette of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; and two sisters, Myrtle Baker of Roxobel, N.C., and Betty Jernigan of Edenton, N.C.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, by Dr. Jesse J. Croom and the Rev. Robert May. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Ahoskie First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 649, Ahoskie, or to Oxford Orphanage, Oxford, N.C. 27565.
