Walter Saunders, 84, of 602 Battery Ave., died Feb. 2, 1996, at his residence.
He was a native of Suffolk. He retired as a laborer at the Peanut Factory. He was the son of the late Joe Saunders and Vertly Holland Saunders. He was the widower of Ozzie Saunders.
He is survived by a daughter, Rosa Lee Terry of Rocky Mount, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Rosa Allen and Mrs. Lovella Thompson, both of Suffolk, and Mrs. Lillie Carson of Bloomfield, N.C.; two brothers, Floyd Saunders of Portsmouth and Ernest Saunders of Richmond; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a grandchild.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Crocker Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Melvin R. Boone. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
