Joseph S. Gascon, 51, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 1996, in Gulfport, Miss.
He was a native of Alexandria, Va., and had been a Mississippi Gulf Coast resident for three years. He was a graduate of Washington-Lee High School, Arlington, Va. He received his B.S. degree in Personnel Administration at Carson-Newman College, Jefferson City, Tenn.; B.S. degree in Community Counseling, and M.S.W. degree, both were received from the University Southern Mississippi at Hattiesburg, Miss. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969. He was a Protestant and an American Red Cross Assistant. He was a field director from 1970 to 1975 and worked with the Mississippi Department of Corrections in the work release department. He worked with the Veterans Administration in Hampton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Gascon and stepfather, Daniel Keyser. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Blaize Gascon of Long Beach; mother, Betrine Shaw Keyser of Jackson, Miss.
A funeral service will be noon Thursday at the Riemann Funeral Home, Long Beach, Miss. A visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in National Cemetery in Biloxi, Miss., with military honors.
