A bowl formed by a ring of tall sand dunes and shaded by dense
stands of pine on a secluded fringe of Seashore State Park just off
the Oceanfront is a popular spot for snowboarders these days. About
a dozen people, including Travis Hampton, 13, were sledding Tuesday
afternoon on anything they could get their hands on - expensive
store-bought snowboards and homemade versions. Today the sand was
starting to poke through the snow, so people had to be on the
lookout for dry spots.
