Two people were rescued Thursday after a 66-foot motor yacht ran aground at the entrance to Rudee Inlet.
A Coast Guard helicopter from Elizabeth City, N.C., lowered a pump to the boat, the ``Ocean,'' about 3 p.m. But the craft was damaged and quickly took on water, sinking into the shallow water near rocks.
With waves crashing over the boat, the two people aboard jumped over the side and were rescued by the crew of a Coast Guard boat from Little Creek.
Both people were reported in good condition. Their names were not available. by CNB
