Hazel Mabes Munson departed this life on Feb. 2, 1996. Most of her life, she lived in Danville, Richmond and Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Munson retired from the Richmond City Police Department as a captain's secretary.
Her survivors include her two daughters and their husbands, Joyce and John Chambers, Nancy and Chris Davenport; her three grandchildren, Andrew Gillen, Matthew Gillen and Sean Davenport; her four sisters, Dorothy Parrish, Winifred Ransdale, Ruby Weitzel and Nancy Brown; a brother, Bernard M. Mabes; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service is being held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 1996, at the First Presbyterian Church in Danville by the Rev. Jack Heinsohn. The burial will take place in the Highland Burial Park. Afterwards, the family will receive friends at the First Presbyterian Church, 937 Main St., Danville. Townes Funeral Home, Danville, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made in honor of Hazel Mabes Munson to the American Diabetes Association.
