Chief Warrant Officer Anthony John Natali Sr., who retired from the U.S. Navy in 1960 after 30 years, died at a local hospital on Friday, Feb. 9, 1996.
A native of Duluth, Minn., he was the son of the late Mr. Luigi and Isola Natali and the widower of Mary A. Natali. He was a member of Indian River Baptist Church. He was an honorary member, past master and past treasurer of Indian River Lodge 252, A.F. & A.M.; member of Alexandria Washington Lodge (NU)22, A.F. & A.M.; member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Norfolk; Great Bridge Royal Arch Chapter (NU)82; Portsmouth Commandery (NU)5; Knights Templar; Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Neptune Forest (NU)141; Order of Eastern Star, Berkley Chapter (NU)52; The Military Order of World Wars, Virginia Beach Chapter; The U.S. Navy Memorial Plank Owners Association; The National Sojourners Association, Portsmouth Chapter (NU)352. He was commander of the Gosport Conference of Heroes of 76, and past national commander of Heroes of 76. He was a member of the Order of Sons of Italy in America, Roma Lodge (NU)254, and member of V.F.W. Post (NU)4808. He was active in forming the USS Vincennes Association and the USS Randolph Association.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Yco of Virginia Beach and Nancy Creason of California; a son, A.J. Natali Jr. of San Clemente, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Ann Delzotto of Duluth, and Sylvia Ducceschi of Phoenix, Ariz; two granddaughters, Laurie and Francesca of California; two step-granddaughters, Mary Ann and Lynn Carol of Portsmouth; four grandsons, Paul, John and Vincent of California, and Fred of Virginia Beach; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, by the Rev. Robert E. Jordan. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be sent to the Collingwood Foundation or Indian River Baptist Church.
