MABEL M. SHIELDS

Mabel Lee McLaughlin Shields, 76, died Feb. 17, 1996, in Norfolk.

Mrs. Shields was born in Norfolk and was retired as a long-time employee of Hofheimer's. She was the widow of Frank M. McLaughlin and Rodney E. Shields. She was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church, Little Creek Women's Club and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a graduate of Maury High School.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty McLaughlin Bingham of Camden, S.C.; two sons, Lt. Col. Frank M. McLaughlin Jr., USAF (Ret.) of San Diego, Calif., and Timothy G. McLaughlin of Charlottesville, Va.; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Berry, Hillary A. McLaughlin, Heather S. McLaughlin, all of San Diego., Sgt. Frank M. McLaughlin III, USA, of Fort Lee, Va., Kathleen Gerloff Tiller of Camden, S.C., and Brienna A. McLaughlin and Brittany D. McLaughlin, both of Charlottesville.

A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Gwynns Island Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Honorary pallbearers are Troy, David, Scott and Rodney Shields, John M. Cannon, Robert L. Brown, Ronald L. Brown, Lewis Hudgins, Everett and Kevin Brown, Brian Diggs and Lloyd G. Brown.
