George Simmons, 67, of the 800 block of Cavalier Blvd., died Feb. 16, 1996, in the VA Hospital, Hampton.
Mr. Simmons, a native of North Carolina, was retired from Atlas Trucking. He was a member of New Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Portsmouth. He was member of the Army, Navy, and a veteran of the Vietnam Era.
Survivors include a daughter, Tameka Simmons of Portsmouth; five stepdaughters; five stepsons; two sisters; a brother; a grandchild, O'Nigua Simmons of Portsmouth; a dear friend of 35 years, Dorothy Sharpe of Portsmouth; and a host of relatives and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday at New First Baptist Church, Taylorsville, by Dr. T.M. Steele. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park. Viewing will be today from 1 to 8 p.m. Family and friends will assemble at 803 Cavalier Blvd. at 11:15 a.m. Friday for the procession to the church.
