MARY E. WELCH

Mary Elizabeth ``Mary Spratley'' Welch, 53, of the 300 block of East Brambleton Ave., died Feb. 18, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

She was a companion of the Department of Social Service and a native of Norfolk. She was the daughter of the late Alease Spratley and the late George Palmer

Survivors include two daughters, Janice D. Spratley and Melony M. Welch; a sister, Alease Mings; a brother, Reginald Spratley; three grandchildren, Yolanda Spratley, Antonio Spratley, and DeAndre Spratley; two great-grandchildren, Chantyal Spratley, Chandrika Spratley; a very special friend, Alonzo McCall; two special friends, Phoebe Washington and Essie M. Jones; and a host of friends and relatives.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, Norfolk, by Dr. Raymond Dean. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Garden, Norfolk. Family will be received at the residence and will assemble there at noon for the procession to the church. E.A. Hughes Funeral Home is in charge.
