FREE MULCH

Tree debris collected from the recent ice storm, will be ground into mulch and accessible to Norfolk citizens in time for the spring gardening season.

Starting at 8 a.m. today and continuing through daylight hours except during grinding, free mulch will be available in a Northside Park parking lot. Citizens are invited to help themselves.

After the ice storm, Norfolk Parks and Forestry crews have been removing public trees and downed limbs while Waste Management has been picking up limbs on private property left between the sidewalk and curb.

According to Director of Recreation, Parks and General Services Stanley Stein, debris collection can be ground in one day, less expensively than what it would cost to truck the material to a private landfill operation or to local recycling facilities.

`` By making the mulch more available to residents of Norfolk we are saving taxpayers money and giving residents a bonus as well as recycling the resource,'' Stein said.

Residents must bring their own containers and forks or shovels. For more information, contact Sid Baker at 441-2435. by CNB
