Terry Martin was named project architect with Forrest Coile Associates, architects and engineers of Newport News. Previously, he was a project architect with Hopke & Associates, an architectural firm in Williamsburg.

Robert W. Pennington, vice president of Crestar's Real Estate Finance Group, has relocated to the Southside office in Chesapeake. He has been a commercial real estate lender in Crestar's Peninsula ofice for the past five years.
HEALTH CARE
Dr. Frank A. Downing Jr. has moved his practice full-time to Norfolk Chiropractic Center. He has been in private practice since 1983. Previously, he was at Tidewater Chiropractic.
Dr. William Neal Hovland was appointed to the board of directors of DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk. Hovland has been on staff at DePaul Medical Center since August 1978 and is a physician partner with the newly formed DePaul Medical Group.
LAW
Eric W. Schwartz was named a partner with Mays & Valentine in Norfolk. He joined the firm in 1990 and is a member of the business and commercial litigation practice group. His practices focuses on civil, criminal, personal injury, medical malpractice, divorce and domestic relations litigation.
James A. Leftwich Jr. was named a partner to Basnight, Wright, Kinser & Telfeyan in Chesapeake. He joined the firm as an associate in October of 1988. The firm will change its name to Basnight, Wright, Kinser, Telfeyan & Leftwich.
Robert B. Thomas Jr. and John C. Lynch were named associates with Huff, Poole & Mahoney in Virginia Beach. Thomas will concentrate his practice in domestic relations. He was formerly with Tomlinson & Thomas and previously served as a judge advocate in the Navy. Lynch will concentrate in litigation. He was formerly with Steptoe & Johnson in Clarksburg, W.Va.
MORTGAGE
Lindy Kushnir has joined Columbia National Mortgage Corp. in Virginia Beach as a mortgage loan officer for Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach and Norfolk.
HOSPITALITY
Caroline L. Ederer was named director of sales for the Sheraton Oceanfront Hotel, Virginia Beach. Prior to this, she was director of sales at the Fort Magruder Inn & Conference Center in Williamsburg for 13 years.
Dominic Simeone was named executive chef at The Happy Crab Restaurant in Virginia Beach. He was previously employed with Phillips Waterside in Norfolk. He did an apprenticeship program in cuisine at Gulf De Hotel, Hyeres, France.
MUSEUMS
Vernon M. Geddy Jr. of Williamsburg was elected to the board of directors of the Jamestown-Yorktown Educational Trust, a non-profit corporation that coordinates private fund-raising in support of acquisitions and special programs at Jamestown Settlement and the Yorktown Victory Center, history museums operated by the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, a Virginia state agency. Geddy is a partner with the Geddy, Harris & Geddy law firm.
REAL ESTATE
Sheila L. Curtis was promoted to vice president, executive assistant at The Breeden Company in Virginia Beach. She will be assistant to the board chairman and will be responsible for administration of financial analysis preparation. Prior to this, she served as executive assistant.
RETAIL
Laura Crouse was promoted to director of operations for Sweet City International Inc. in Virginia Beach, the world-wide franchiser of Sweet City bulk candy stores and developer of the Sweet City Express units. In her new position, she will act as liaison for domestic franchises and oversee the implementation of the Sweet City Express program in the United States.
