Mr. R.J. Hill, 50, of 115 Remsen Ave., died Feb. 23, 1996, after a brief illness.
He was a native of Southampton County. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert Lee Hill Sr. and Mattie E. Harris. He was employed by Herbert Sand Co. for 25 years.
He is survived by two brothers, Elmo Harris of Somerset, N.J., and Charlie Harris of Portsmouth; and seven sisters, Bessie Fenwick of New Brunswick, N.J., Ellen Towns and Anna Mae Harris of Boykins, Va., Catherine Grant, Linda Whitehead and Elsie Harris of Newsoms, Va., and Mary Harris of Courtland, Va. He was predeceased by his brothers, Willie E. Harris and Robert L. Hill Jr.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home by Elder John R. Williams. Burial will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery, Newsoms.
