A Windsor man was killed Tuesday night after the pickup he was driving collided head-on into a Jeep Cherokee about 8 p.m. on Route 258 North, state police spokeswoman Tammy Van Dame said.
Richard H. Stone, 37, the driver of the 1994 Chevrolet pickup, was taken to Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, where he died a short time later.
The driver of the 1986 Jeep, Barney Hensley of Hampton, was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Police were piecing together the details of the accident, but they determined one the vehicles was traveling north, the other, south. Police were not sure which vehicle crossed over into the opposite lane.
Van Dame said it was undetermined whether either men were wearing seat belts, but alcohol was not a factor. There were no other passengers in the vehicles, Van Dame said.
