Mary Clyde Gurley Chandler, 81, of 1019 Delaware Ave., died March 3, 1996, at Rex Hospital, Raleigh, N.C.
She was the wife of the late J. Cameron Chandler and the daughter of the late Richard Clyde Gurley and Mary Potter Gurley.
Survivors include a daughter, Jayne C. Van Graafeiland of Raleigh; a son, Joseph C. Chandler Jr. of Richmond; two sisters, Gwendolyn G. Richardson of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Louise C. Washburn of Williamsburg; four grandchildren, Mary Cameron Van Graafeiland and Peter B. Van Graafeiland of Raleigh, Whitney C. Chandler and S. Cameron Chandler of Richmond.
A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. by the Revs. Woodrow Laine and George Close at Oxford United Methodist Church. The family will receive guests at the church immediately following the service. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Oxford United Methodist Church, 601 W. Washington St., Suffolk, 23434.
