Pentagon officials are perplexed by test results showing that severe downblast from the V-22 Osprey would prevent the aircraft from being used to dispatch commandos.
The problem, detailed in a published report Monday, affects a relatively small portion of the 523 V-22s the Pentagon plans to buy. But it marks the latest in a series of setbacks that have hampered development of the tilt-rotor aircraft.
