Local police are asking public assistance in solving these cases:
VIRGINIA BEACH
Two convenience stores were robbed in Virginia Beach.
On Feb. 17, the 7-Eleven on Holland Road at Windsor Oaks Boulevard was robbed about 4:30 a.m. The suspect is a black man around 6 feet tall, in his 20s. He wore a black windbreaker, faded blue jeans and white Fila tennis shoes.
On Feb. 19, about 3 a.m., the 7-Eleven on Northampton Boulevard at Baker Road was robbed. The suspect is a white man who appeared to be in his 30s and was about 5 feet 7 inches tall. He had a mustache and wore a gray jacket and a blue-and-white-striped shirt.
PORTSMOUTH
A middle-aged man was leaving a restaurant in the 3500 block of Airline Blvd. about 7:30 p.m. Feb. 13 when he was approached by two men.
One carried a single-barreled shotgun.
The men demanded the victim's wallet and, after taking it and some cash, they fled through a hole in a fence near some townhouses and were last seen heading down Elmhurst Lane.
Both suspects were described as black with dark-colored clothes.
One was described as being 18 or 19 years old, weighing about 150 pounds, and standing between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall.
The D&R, a gun shop at 3008 Tyre Neck Road, was broken into on Jan. 8 about 2:17 a.m. Two subjects were recorded on videotape. In less than 30 seconds, the thieves stole at least 15 semi-automatic handguns, six 45-caliber handguns, and nine 9mm caliber handguns. The guns were made by Smith & Wesson, Augustine, Glock, Ruger, Llama, Colt and F&G.
CHESAPEAKE
On Dec. 30, about 11 p.m., a man entered the Maytag self-service laundry in the Deep Creek section and robbed an employee at gunpoint.
The suspect fled into the parking lot and got into a red vehicle, possibly a Ford Taurus.
He is described as black, in his 20s, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 180 pounds, and having long dreadlocks. He wore a long black-leather jacket, jeans and a black stocking cap.
He had a small-caliber black handgun with wooden grips.
SUFFOLK
A 45-year-old man was beaten during a robbery attempt March 6 at the corner of Spruce and VanBuren Streets.
About 5:50 p.m., three men approached him and asked for money. When he said he had none, they struck him several times in the face.
All three suspects were described as black.
One had plaited black hair, brown eyes and a mustache. Another was short and stocky with black hair; he wore blue jeans and an olive green shirt.
HAMPTON
Shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 4, the Signet Bank branch in the 4100 block of West Mercury Blvd. was robbed.
The suspect approached a teller, said he had a handgun and demanded money.
The entire robbery was recorded on the bank's surveillance camera.
The suspect is described as black, 25 to 35 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 150 pounds. He wore a dark-colored golf cap, a dark green jacket and sunglasses.
A Papa John's Pizza manager and an employee were robbed in the parking lot of the store at 231 E. Mercury Blvd. at 3:45 a.m. Feb. 18.
The robbers were described as two black males, 18 to 22 years old, 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 8 inches tall.
Both wore green jackets and had blue scarves covering their faces. They had a black pistol. ILLUSTRATION: Photos
