Elfriede R. Bethel, age 71, born June 5, 1924, went home to rest on March 9, 1996 at 6:30 a.m.
Born in Munich, Germany, Elfriede later came to the United States, where she met and married David Bethel on July 29, 1968. Twenty-eight wonderful years of marriage to an exceptional lady will always be cherished by her husband David.
Her survivors include her husband, David of Chesapeake; three stepsons, David Jr., Anthony and Jamel Bethel, all of New York City; one son-in-law, Hulmudt Glockl of Baar, Germany; five grandchildren, Segi, Hulmudt Jr., Christin, Sebina, Sisi; and five great-grandchildren, all of Baar, Germany; a mother-in-law, Merlene Bethel of Nassau, Bahamas; two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Rolle of Miami and Olga Dorsett of Nassau, Bahamas; three brothers-in-law, Leon Rolle of Miami, Vincent Dorsett and Derick Bethel, both of Nassau; and a host of nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. Elfriede, we love you, but Jesus loves you best - the family.
An interment and memorial service will be held at Rosewood Memorial Park Mausoleum, Virginia Beach, at a later date. Altmeyer Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
