The North Carolina Marine Fisheries Commission will meet in Raleigh on Friday and Saturday at the Holiday Inn-North, 2815 Capitol Blvd., beginning at 9 a.m. both days.
Friday's meeting will begin with a one-hour public comment period, followed by reports from commission members and Division of Marine Fisheries staff members. Commission members also will be briefed on recommendations from the Moratorium Steering Committee and the Marine Fisheries Commission's Conservation Fund.
Commission members are expected to vote on two proposed rules - one regarding their right to prohibit the harvest of fish from state coastal waters where warnings or advisories have been issued by the state's health director, and one extending the proclamation authority of the Division of Marine Fisheries director to address issues involving user conflicts.
Additionally, commission members will approve proposals for the state's Fishery Resource Grant Program for the 1996 grant cycle.
