Old Dominion juniors Ticha Penicheiro and Clarisse Machanguana were honored by United Press International and The Associated Press on Wednesday, and both qualified for another honor.
Penicheiro, a point guard from Portugal who was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year, was a third-team selection on the UPI All-America team. Machanguana, a center from Mozambique who was a first-team All-CAA choice, was an honorable mention on the UPI team. Both players also received honorable mention from the Associated Press.
The teammates were named to the Kodak All-District III team, which puts them among 45 finalists for the Kodak All-America team, the most prestigious such honor in women's college basketball. The 10-person Kodak team will be selected and announced at the Final Four in Charlotte on March 23-24.
Machanguana was an all-district selection last year as well. Old Dominion's last Kodak All-America selection was Adrienne Goodson in 1988. by CNB
