The women's novice 8-person team from Indiana pulls its rowing shell

from the dock to make room for others. They had trouble with a

broken meters oarlock, and the team from Old Dominion let them

borrow a boat until their repairs were completed. The Crawford Crew

Classic course is 200 meters long and takes the racers between 4 and

6 minutes to complete.

George Mason's men's heavyweight novice 8-person team pulls out near

the Portsmouth Seawall. George Mason won every division except the

women's heavyweight, which Richmond won.

David Pook, Indiana's men's and women';s coach, repairs the broken

oarlock used by Anne Ward, a freshman. Ward and her crew were in the

first heat of the novice 8-person division, and the equipment

failure delayed their race by 45 minutes.
