MAN CHARGED WITH MAKING PIPE BOMB

A 49-year-old man, arrested Friday night after police found a pipe bomb in his house, was charged Saturday with the manufacture and possession of an explosive device.

The man, who police identified Saturday as Louis Riddick of the 1100 block of Southern Blvd.was arrested after police were called to his home at 6:47 p.m. to break up a domestic dispute.

Riddick's girlfriend, who was not charged and whom police declined to identify, told police about the bomb.

Fire department spokesman Mike Wade said Riddick told authorities why he made the bomb but Wade would not repeat Riddick's explanation.

``We know what he said but we still aren't going to release what he told,'' Wade said.
