FRED W. IARUSSI SR.

Fred William Iarussi Sr., 53, of the first block of Vail Place, died March 17, 1996, in his residence.

He was a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and was the husband of Sandra G. Iarussi. He was a retired Master Chief Petty Officer of the U.S. Coast Guard and he was also a retired rigger at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Portsmouth Naval Masonic Lodge (NU)100, Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Boston, veterans of Foreign Wars Post 993, Fleet Reserve Branch (NU)40, and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 41.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Antoinette Bacalis and Karen Iarussi, both of Portsmouth; son, Fred W. Iarussi Jr. of Bear, Del.; brother, Guy Iarussi Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and a close friend, P.L. Perry of Anchorage, Alaska.

A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by Father James C. Griffin. Entombment is in Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Masonic Rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fisher House, c/o Portsmouth Naval Hospital.
