Eleanor Jean Pearman, 61, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 16, 1996.
She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband George F. Pearman as well as a wonderful sister, mother, and grandmother. Jean, as she was affectionately known by friends and family, was born to her parents, Clyde Leroy Hill and Lettie Holmes, on May 1, 1934, in Guilford County, N.C. By the time she was a young adult, she knew the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with and was blessed with 44 wonderful years with George. They were also blessed with three sons and daughters-in-law. Gregory Holmes and his wife, Patricia, Jeffrey Dean and his wife, Andrea, and Mark Franklin and his wife, Joanne, as well as 10 grandchildren who loved and adored their grandmother.
Jean was a member of Kempsville Baptist Church and was active in her Sunday school class as well as other church activities. She loved taking long walks while enjoying the beauty of God's creation and especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Nothing pleased her more than to be near her family.
Besides her children and grandchildren, she is survived by three special sisters, Lillian Joann Jainini of Susquehanna, Pa., Margaret Faye Strickland of Greensboro, N.C., and Dolores Whitt of Alexandria, Va.; her brothers, both from Greensboro, are Clyde Steven Hill and Darrell Leroy Hill.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kempsville Baptist Church by the Rev. Kelly Burris and Rev. Randy Pearman. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will be at Smith and Williams Funeral Home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. The family requested memorial donations be made to the Kempsville Baptist Church Building Fund, 5204 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23462.
