Margaret C. Cross, 86, of the 2700 block of Hickory St., died March 21, 1996, in the home of her sister in Bartow, Ga.
Mrs. Cross, the widow of Joseph Cross, was a retired self-employed caterer. She was a native of Chester, Fla., and a member of Fellowship United Church of Christ, Chesapeake. She was a deaconess, a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Womens Fellowship and a member of the Margaret G. White Circle. She was a member of the NAACP, PARC Inc. Organization, and involved with the Girl Scouts of America for 60 years, 40 years of which she was a Girl Scout Leader.
Survivors include a sister, Annie Tarver of Bartow; nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Winston E. Waugh at Fellowship United Church of Christ, Chesapeake. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon Sunday. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or Fellowship United Church of Christ Building Fund or Educational Fund.
