The mechanical harvest season for clams in North Carolina waters will close at 4 p.m. Wednesday, officials with the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries said.
The closure is effective in all state waters except an area in Onslow and Pender Counties that is temporarily opened to mechanical harvesting of clams in the Intracoastal Waterway Channel from Marker 74 at New River to the Highway 210-50 bridge at Surf City.
