Odell M. Divis, of the 700 block of W. 28th St., died March 22, 1996, at a local hospital.
She was retired from the production department of The Virginian-Pilot and was a native of Norfolk. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Norfolk.
Survivors include two daughters, Thelma L. Thomas and Rose Arrington, both of Norfolk; three sons, Preston Davenport, Laverne Davenport and Asiah Divis Jr., all of Norfolk; four sisters, Mabel Newby and Anne Newby, both of Syracuse, N.Y., Shirley Newby and Jean Newby, both of Lima, Ohio; five brothers, Dennis I. Newby, Jimmy Newby, Alvin Davis, Clifton Davis, and Gary Newby, all of Lima; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church by Bishop Clarence V. Russell Jr. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence the day of the service. The body will be placed in the church at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Graves Funeral Home is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
