The MCI Communications Mass Markets Center opened Tuesday in the
Denbigh area of Newport News. The facility, which will have an
annual payroll of $20 million, will employ 1,000 by year's end,
company officials say. The center occupies a former Lowe's store in
the Sherwood Shopping Center.
