Charles W. ``Chuck'' Cox, 54, died Wednesday, March 27, 1996, at his residence.

Chuck served in Vietnam with the Air Force and was employed with Ling Tempco Vaught as a field engineer at NASA-Langley. For the past 18 years, he was a genuine dealer for Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. Chuck owned and operated the Hampton Roads Harley-Davidson and Southside Harley-Davidson dealerships.

He is survived by his wife, Mary McDermott Cox; three children, Julie Cox Sallade, Chad William Cox and Danny Thomas Cox, all of Newport News; brother, Jeff Cox of Newport News; sister, Shirley Layman of Dickerson Run, Pa.; mother, Hazel Cox of Newport News; granddaughter, Samantha Charlene Sallade of Newport News; and a devoted companion, Christine Selby of Newport News.

The family will receive friends at Peninsula Funeral Home on Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peninsula Funeral Home by the Rev. Draa S. Thompson. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Peninsula Unit 618-C, 500 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News, Va. 23601.
