LOTT TO LEAD CHOWAN

Robert B. Spivey, chair of the Chowan College Board of Trustees, announced Thursday that Dr. Stanley G. Lott of Louisiana College has been selected as the Baptist school's next president. Lott is the 21st president in the institution's 148-year history.

Lott now is vice president for academic affairs at his alma mater, Louisiana College, a position he has held for 15 years.

``After an intensive nine-month search, the Board of Trustees is pleased that someone of Dr. Lott's ability will be taking the reins at this critical point in Chowan's history,'' Spivey said. ``In the midst of its transition to four-year status, the institution is poised to become an education leader in the region. Dr. Lott brings great wisdom and experience to the office of president.''

Lott completed the doctor of education in higher education administration at the University of Georgia, Athens in 1981, and is a 1968 graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where he earned both the doctor of theology in systematic theology and the bachelor of divinity degree. He completed undergraduate work in sociology at Louisiana College in 1957. by CNB
