Garris Travel Service, with offices in Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Portsmouth, sent letters to its customers informing them of the excise tax credit for airline tickets purchased in 1995 for travel in 1996. The travel agency will also offer assistance to anyone who needs information and a sample of a tax claim (Form 8849) for your refund. Garris said they will mail this information if a stamped, addresses envelope is mailed to them with the request.

PATENTS

Lucas Control Systems Products in Hampton received a patent on a universal digital compensation module used primarily in pressure transducers. The transducers are used in hydraulic and pneumatic controls, off-road vehicles, sewage and water treatment, agrionics and refrigeration.

O.K. James Construction Inc. in Williamsburg received a $626,205 contract for the Hilton Village streetscape, Phase I Istea project in Newport News.

Goode Omega Inc. in Chesapeake received a $523,519 contract to remove and replace underground storage tanks at Camp Peary in Williamsburg.

Basic Construction Co. in Newport News received a $596,002 for Oyster Point reconstruction in Newport News.

Old Dominion Demolition Corp. in Portsmouth received a $721,770 contract for demolition of Glen Gardens Apartment complex in Newport News.

T.A. Sheets Mechanical General Contractor in Norfolk received a $1.5 million contract for water meter vaults, Phase II, in Norfolk.

Precon Construction Co. in Chesapeake received a $1 million contract for a Homestead sewage pump station in Virginia Beach.

Henry S. Branscome Inc. in Williamsburg received a $980,875 contract for 1996 street resurfacing program in Newport News.
