Carl Harrell Chappell, 56, of Route 2, died Saturday night, March 30, 1996, in his home.
Mr. Chappell was a native and lifelong resident of Gates County. The son of the late Cleve Hubert Sr. and Mrs. Annie Sue Harrell Chappell, he was employed with Spivey's of Chesapeake. He was a member of Eure Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Eure Chappell; one daughter, Deborah Leigh Chappell Renson of Maryland; one son, Carl Wayne Chappell of Chicago; two brothers, Cleve H. Chappell Jr. of Gates and Bobby R. Chappell of Suffolk; and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Eure Christian Church by the Rev. Wayne Gardner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Friends may join the family following the service in the church social hall and all other times at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to Roanoke-Chowan Hospice or to Eure Christian Church.
