It's back to square one. Or, back to $1 million, anyway.
There were two winning tickets for Saturday night's Virginia Lottery drawing - one sold in Norfolk, the other in Suffolk.
The $26.6 million jackpot - the fourth-highest since the lottery game began in 1990 - will be evenly split.
Still, it's a bundle of loot: About $452,200 a year after taxes for 20 years.
One ticket was sold at the Farm Fresh in the 200 block of E. Little Creek Road at Wards Corner. The other was sold at a 7-Eleven in the 6000 block of Godwin Blvd. in Suffolk.
Lottery offices were closed Sunday, so there was no way for the winners to come forward and claim their prizes. They have 180 days to pick up their first check. After that, the money goes to the State Literary Fund.
The winning numbers were 11, 16, 24, 26, 37 and 39.
While some ticket-holders are probably disappointed that they were off by just one number, the 221 tickets matching five of six numbers are worth $1,332 each.
An additional 10,966 tickets matched four of six numbers and are worth $57 each.
Had there been no winner Saturday night, Lottery Department officials had expected the jackpot to swell past $30 million, which would have been the largest ever in Virginia.
Instead, the estimated Lotto jackpot for Wednesday reverts to the bottom line: a measly $1 million.
