Thomas J. Ballance Jr., 81, passed away April 16, 1996, in Norfolk.
He was a retired aviator and also retired from the automobile business as a service manager. He was a lifetime resident of Norfolk and the widower of Sallie Ballance. He was a United Methodist and a 1934 graduate of Maury High School. Mr. Ballance was one of the early aviators in the 1930s and loved to fly.
He is survived by a son, Thomas Ballance III of Norfolk, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Grace Ballance.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Joe Mullen in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church or to Norfolk Christian High School.
