A motorist who drove through a red light was killed late Monday when a pickup truck hit her car broadside.
The crash was at the intersection of Bonney Road and Independence Boulevard just after 11 p.m.
Police spokesman Lou Thurston said a 1994 Toyota, driven by 35-year-old Wendy A. Russ, turned from Bonney Road onto Independence Boulevard and was hit by a 1992 Ford pickup truck.
Rescue crews worked 30 minutes to free Russ from the wreckage. Russ, of the 100 block of Hill Prince Road, died later in a hospital.
The driver of the pickup truck, 18-year-old Aaron J. Smithers of the 5200 block of Captains Run, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He was later released.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
