Regarding ``Creation `science' rears its head - again,'' (letter, March 31): The ``long slide into barbarism and a new Dark Ages'' has already begun with his point of view. Fear of opposing opinions is the greatest form of ignorance.
The education system should teach our children the various approaches to the origin of the world and mankind and allow them to use their intellectual faculties, deductive reasoning and even their hearts to evaluate and determine the truth of the matter. The theory of evolution and the ``big-bang'' theory (Whatever happened to that one?) have as many holes and unproven aspects as creationism (which many scientists also support) supposedly does.
It was once widely accepted by the ``scientific community'' of the day that the world was flat. Truth is truth and will prove itself out in time. To expose and teach our young people only the theory of evolution is to brainwash them and make of them nothing more than ``trained apes.''
